Description

This coin is from the second year of issue for the popular Australian Nugget gold coin series, which has morphed into the Kangaroo series of gold coins.

The 1987 gold Nugget was the first bullion issue of the series. When originally introduced, the Nugget series featured images of famous gold nuggets found in Australia. The 1 oz coins had the "Welcome Stranger" nugget, which was the largest alluvial gold nugget ever found. The net gold weight was over 2300 troy ounces. Upon sale, the nugget was melted down and turned into bars!

Don't miss your opportunity to stack this piece of Perth Mint bullion history!
